About
"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." ~ Coretta Scott King
This is me
Why?
I've always loved tech from a rural Southern farm girl in libraries due to no broadband access at home to getting certified in graphic & web design to teaching computer science to my students. I wanted my students that looked like me to learn the fundamentals of CS: collaboration, computational thinking, algorithmic process & more to arm them with skills that whatever their next path (educational or not) they learn techniques that help them on their journey. Now I'm taking the courage to align my love from the periphery to the focus.

An educator becomes a UX Researcher. After 13 years in education, I realized I'd always been a researcher. I love uncovering the heart of a problem and innovation. My passion is for relating information in a fun, unique way that anyone can understand. A tenacious desire to cultivate products, experiences & spaces where people feel included and that they belong. To use data, not as a justification, but as a methodology that illuminates who is being centered and who is being left out by critically interrogating the data's origins and the potential biases from its generators. To use all of those insights and work side-by-side with users and businesses to design opportunities or products that create value, inspire, and empower.

Quantitative Research
I started my career as a science & computer science educator, which allowed me to gain a great deal of experience utilizing data collection and analysis to synthesize key findings, discover trends, identify insights, and make recommendations.
Qualitative Research
As both a project and program manager, I find that qualitative research is essential in contextualizing quantitative data. The qualitative data elucidates the story and it's my favorite part. Listening to both the spoken and unspoken to understand customers' experiences. Some methods that I use frequently are focus groups, ethnographic studies, interviews, card sorting, surveys, and a/b testing.
Learning Design & Development
Taking my learnings from my quant experiences I began ideating solutions, specifically around designing learning content and facilitation, from in-person to virtual learning modules for youth and adult learners. My time at the NYC Department of Education allowed me the perfect opportunity to cultivate scaffolded diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops and organizational experiences on a large scale.

Where I am or what I do when off the clock
My passions are characterized by my love of learning, creating, building, and an ethos centered on equity. I find the best way is to immerse oneself and to be open to others through empathy and shared experiences.
